My interest in speech-language pathology as a career emerged during my third year of undergraduate study at the University of Toronto.  From that point forward, I immersed myself in additional education, volunteer and work experiences in preparation for entrance to this profession.  I earned my Honours Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Toronto in 2005 and completed my Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2010, at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. 

Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to gain a wide breadth of experience providing communication and swallowing assessment and treatment.  I began my career working with adults in hospital, outpatient rehabilitation and community settings.   The birth of my son sparked a renewed interest in child speech and language development, delays and disorders, and so as part of the S.L. Hunter SpeechWorks team, I enjoy having the opportunity to work with clients of all ages. 

My current areas of practice primarily focus on acquired language disorders (ex: aphasia), cognitive communication disorders, speech delays/disorders, child language development, early literacy and school-aged literacy. 

Dedicated to life-long learning, I continuously acquire new knowledge and skills in order to provide high quality and evidence-based interventions to my clients.  In 2025, I completed the requisite education and training to become a qualified Facial Therapist; providing Facial NeuroMuscular Retraining (FNMR) assessment and treatment to those living with facial palsy (i.e.- paralysis, weakness, or uncontrolled movements of the face) due to injury of the Facial Nerve.  I am excited to be able to offer this service, which is a growing focus of my practice.     
As a clinician, I value a collaborative, client-centred approach to intervention and I believe in providing individualized treatment targeting functional goals.  I hope my enthusiasm, creativity and compassion put my clients at ease and help to provide a motivating and fun environment in which my clients may achieve their goals.
