SpeechWorks is proud to offer services that can help students bridge the gap between traditional classroom learning and online learning in the face of the Covid-19 crisis.

We are currently offering online services with direct 1:1 support for students with a focus on promoting their academic skills development through this challenging time.

How can we help?

The unique educational background and training of a Speech-Language Pathologists make us ideal for helping students with:

  • Pre- and Early-literacy skills (e.g. phonological awareness, phonics)
  • Reading (e.g. decoding, comprehension, fluency)
  • Writing (e.g. formulation, spelling, essay writing)
  • Study skills/memory
  • Comprehension
  • Word-based math problems
  • Verbal communication

In addition, our cognitive skills background and training also means we are equipped to provide students with strategies and support in navigating the self-driven world of on-line learning including personalized strategies for executive functioning including:

  • Attention
  • Time management
  • Planning/organizing
  • Task initiation and follow through
  • Self advocacy for learning needs/gaps

Online? No problem!

Our incredible team has years of experience in providing these services through the online modality as we have been servicing the Indigenous population in the North in this way.

Our staff are experienced in making these online supports motivating and engaging for students and are able to use their own school assignments and work to facilitate the development of these skills and strategies.

Who can we help?

Our services are not only appropriate for students with identified learning needs, but also for typically developing students who may be struggling with the independent nature of online work or those who require more 1:1 support to maintain their academic performance.
